WatchTake-Home Teeth Whitening
Whiten on your own schedule: take-home whitening at Brammeier Family Dental
Not everyone wants to spend an hour in the dental chair, and custom take-home whitening is built for exactly that preference, with results that leave drugstore strips behind. It all comes down to the custom-fit trays, which keep professional-strength gel right against the enamel and off the gums, where it would otherwise trigger sensitivity.
The short video lays out the steps. It starts with impressions of your teeth, which we use to make trays that fit precisely. From there you add a small amount of professional-strength bleach to the trays and wear them for the window your dentist prescribes, generally 30 minutes to overnight depending on the gel's strength.
The fit is what separates the two approaches. Generic over-the-counter trays let gel seep onto the gums, which brings irritation and patchy results. A custom tray spreads whitening evenly over every tooth, and paired with a higher concentration of bleach it reaches a level drugstore kits can't touch.
No whitening lasts forever, but an occasional touch-up plus a little restraint around heavily staining foods and drinks will stretch your results a long way. Bring up take-home whitening at your next cleaning.
